Against those who seek to usurp the fortunes of others. Governs justice, truth, and liberty. Delivers the oppressed and protects prisoners. Loves jurisprudence, with affinity for law courts.

MEBAHEL. His attribute is God the Protector. He corresponds to the holy name Dios, from the Spanish tongue. His ray begins at the 66th degree up to the 70th degree inclusive, corresponding to the seventh decade and to the angel called Thesogar. He rules over the following days: 2nd April, 13th June, 24th August, 4th November, 15th January. One invokes this angel against those who seek to usurp another’s fortune.

He rules over justice, truth, and liberty; he delivers the oppressed and makes truth to be known. The person born under this influence will love jurisprudence and will distinguish themself at the bar and in every deliberation. The negative side of this angel rules over calumny, false witness, and unjust proceedings.

FIRST CONVERSATION

The lap of a figure seated on a throne, hands pouring like water. A torrent heard in the trees. Sweet water.

“Show thyself to me that I may know thee.” Long pause. A figure, bearded, behind me, raising a hand in confirmation. Return to my body. Present and calm.

“What is thy office concerning me?” To hold in abeyance the hounds of your tongue and the harm of your accusers. To open space for grace and mercy. To separate the warring ones, return their hostages, redressing each from each. I mean this within yourself. Your mirror is a skilled healer, your best guide is yourself when you are healed. I open the way for that one to come forth.

“Help me to be free from giving or receiving oppression.” It is done already in my presence. There is none to tell you how to be: So you are free from oppression. There are many eyes and hands for peace, so you may give no oppression save to yourself. This is the power of me: But when I am not present, you are the one who holds the hands and eyes, and thus you are free.

“Thank you. What message do you have for those who speak to angels?” Let the word go forth to the ends of the earth: Every being is true to itself, showing its nature in all its choices. Every being is free, in whatever circumstances it finds itself, to choose those things that are within itself. Every being is connected in its actions and their consequences to every other, and bears relation in every circumstance. Thus the oppressor finds oppression within itself; and the choice to be free of oppression.

To those whose circumstances hold them closely, I say: Come into my presence, that ye may be free of chains in spirit: and where the spirit is free, the prisons of earthly oppressors cannot long hold you, or they shall break themselves upon the very rocks of the law they build unto themselves.

For those who are free in body, look to it that thy spirit be free of oppression, for you are free, and there is none to save you from yourself, and the law of heaven and earth is upon you.

“I pray for an end to oppression within my family.” It is done already in my presence. Do not fear for thy children, for already their chains are fallen from them; already their hearts are free; already you are deeply connected.

SECOND CONVERSATION

Contact begins with a flashing image of a castle seen from above, reminiscent of the Frieda Harris 4 of Pentacles.

“Angel, reveal thyself unto me that I may understand thee.” The left-hand candle flares brightly, and I feel a vast, solid bulk behind me, like a sculpted head and shoulders the size of a house. Hands of stone on either side of my own house.

“Angel, what is thy message for me at this time?” A deep resonant sound, just below hearing. You have labored and been heavy laden, I give you peace and respite. It is already at hand, and let your heart rejoice, for as a rock and a high place is the dwelling prepared for those who love the gods, and the bosom of the earth receives your burdens, and in gladness lifts up your feet. Therefore you are become as the hands of the angels, to extend mercy to those whose faith or footsteps falter, and to those who pray for succor. But know that whoso helps another to rise must first descend, that hand may meet with hand, and I shall be with you, that hold the hand that reaches for heaven.

“Angel, what message for my community, and those who also look to the angels in prayer?” Do not despise what seems easy, or think that in many challenges is holiness or in overcoming them the way to grace. The gods give to each a full measure, and that which delights your soul is given for your succor, and strength is extended to you to meet every challenge. Even so are you blessed and upheld by the gods, not by the proof of your devotion, or by any deservingness, but freely and forever, if you are open to receive what is given to you of grace and hardship, and take refuge in your own nature and the law of your being. Already it is full of resources and the gifts of grace, and your rescue is at hand if you give your burdens to us, who bear them with you.

Nor think you must do it alone: Pray together, for the hands of the humans are the tools of angels, and many hearts may bear together all things, if they are joined in love.

Therefore, fear not the machinations of the mighty or of the wicked ones, but be comforted: Earth shall support you and heaven lift you up, and by many hands and hearts your hurts be made whole.
